I met Steve Blum! It was the first time that I have ever met a voice actor so I was a blushing mess T__T It didn’t help that he voice acted as some of my favorite Digimon characters from 02, Tamers, Frontier, and Savers.
I walked up to him and he said, “Hi! How are you?” and of course I was a nervous wreck so I just ended up stammering out, “H-hi! I really like Digimon.” I then gave him a Guilmon & Takato drawing my friend drew me and he immediately smiled and began to talk in Guilmon’s voice.
“Who is this for?” and I replied with, “U-um….Iris.” I was so nervous that I even forgot my name for a second… it was really embarrassing.
He then continued to talk in Guilmon’s voice as he signed the thing. He wrote down “Irismon!” which just made me even more embarrassed because that’s my Tumblr URL so I was having this spazz attack while he was signing it HAHA. He then said, “Thank you, Irismon!” as he handed it back to me.
He was in character as Guilmon all along and I was so amazed by how nice he was and how willing he was to talk to me that I just sort of stood there in a dazed stupor as he talked to me. I managed to reply with a few yes’s and no’s but I couldn’t say anything other than that.
After, I quickly ran away and I FORGOT TO ASK HIM QUESTIONS but it didn’t matter since my life was pretty much made right there. My friend also got his autograph and got him to talk as Guilmon so it was really fun.
He was so nice! I definitely want to meet him again…and hopefully, I’ll be a lot calmer lol.

Wow, I’m so jealous!
I didn’t think there were any voice actors that I would really love to meet, but to hear Guilmon’s voice in real life — that would be awesome.
“Okay, how do you say… that we almost drowned and now we’re trapped in a cave with no way out, and make it sound reassuring? ‘It’s better than school’?”

Past marketing trends not only for the Digimon series, but for children’s animation over all, had proven that products based on female characters did not sell in a boys’ action figure and toy market. Thus, we came up with the idea of making “the girl” a character stronger than anyone else, and paired her with a powerful digimon. Just because a character is strong, she shouldn’t have to use rough language. I focussed my efforts on making my dialogue show Rika’s mature side as well as her incredibly childish side.

Rika was the best. ♥

‘I hoped to portray Takato as a very normal, un-exceptional elementary school student. The basic concept for Digimon Tamers is “a normal elementary school student has a great adventure over the span of a year”.
This character should not be a stereotypical leader-hero, shouting “Let’s go!” at the drop of a hat. But on the other hand, he mustn’t be perceived as a weak-willed wimp. He must be full of curiosity, fascinated by monsters and digimon, but also flawed enough that he might brag or exaggerate things in front of his friends —- in other words, an every-day, regular child.’

See, this is why Takato is my favourite gogglehead.
